Brown County has received $1 million in Community Crossings grant funding through the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The award was announced Tuesday afternoon in a press release from INDOT.

Earlier this year, Brown County Highway Superintendent Mike Magner said the grant money would be used to pave 11 miles of county roads.

He said that other county roads would be paved using local funding if the full grant amount was received from the state.

Brown County was one of 214 cities, towns and counties to receive a combined $126.5 million in state matching funds for local road projects through Community Crossings.
