David Harold Elmore passed away August 26th, 2024, at the age of 90.

He was preceded in death by his wife Garnet and daughter Debra. David is survived by his daughter, son in-law, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

David graduated from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, majoring in Law Enforcement Administration and Allied Health Sciences. His career as a Radiology Technologist spanned over 39 years in both the private and military arenas. David was a police officer for 21 years on the Indianapolis Police Department and retired as Captain in 1983. Following retirement from IPD, David worked for the Brown County Office of Family and Social Services Administration for the State of Indiana, starting as a caseworker and statewide child abuse investigator. He later assumed the role of Director and retired in 1996. David was a member of the Indiana National Guard, US Army Reserve, and USAF Reserve. He retired from USAF, with the rank of SMSGT in 1994.

David’s love was service, to both his family and community. He touched and impacted many families and lives along the way. His most memorable and treasured years were spent residing in his log home in Brown County, IN with his beloved wife Garnet. His hobbies were travel, horses, motorcycles (he was on the IPD Drill Team for 5 years), and music. He played the saxophone for his high school band and later was a member of the Brown County Community Band.

Private burial services will be held later in Nashville, IN
