Seniors, patrons win awards in guild show
Winners in the Brown County Art Guild Senior show were: Rhonda Bontrager, best in show for “Blue & Red”; Nancy Beck, first place for oil painting “Sunlit Bouquet”; Steve Warner, second place for “Ice House”; Shirley Woolard, third place for “Waiting to Rock; and Linda Sage, honorable mention for “Yearning to Breathe.”
Brown County Art Guild Patron Show winners (55 and younger) were: Pamela Keech, best in show for “Night House”; Daniel Alexander, first place for watercolor painting “Great Horned Owl”; Gary Jursik, second place for “After the Rain”; Dick Ferrer, third place for “Three Old Friends”; and Tim Beretta, honorable mention for “Leafin’ Town.”
‘Signs of the Imagination’ coming to gallery
Gary Anderson of Bloomington Designs has made most of the signs in Nashville, including those that greet visitors as they drive into town. But his studio includes a collection of signs that represent places from his imagination.
The Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artist Drive, will feature the Hoosier sign maker’s “Signs of the Imagination” from March 5 to 27.

Guild Young Artists Show on display
The Brown County Art Guild annual Young Artists Show will be on display through February. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite entry for the People’s Choice Award.
This month, the guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays noon to 5 p.m., or by appointment on other days.
A reception for the artists will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 with awards presented at 3 p.m.
Photography club’s work on display downtown
Members of the Brown County Photography Club are featured artists at a special exhibition at Chateau Thomas Winery, 225 S. Van Buren St., through Monday, Feb. 29.
The show features a variety of photographic styles from established and emerging artists, including Sharon Bussert, Jessica Bussert, Shirley Lance, Max Lance, John Drebus, Pamela Drebus, Walt Sterneman, Gail Hyde, Tyria McKain, Dan Troglin, Dick Haggard, Susan Showalter and Tony Cecere.
The club is open to photographers of all skill levels. It meets monthly at the Brown County Public Library. Drop-in visitors are welcome. Visit facebook.com/browncountyphotographyclub for more information. The club also hosts monthly field trips to nearby venues for photo shoots.
Hoosier Women Artists Contest open
INDIANAPOLIS — Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann is accepting entries in the Hoosier Women Artists Contest.
Past entries have included portraits, landscapes, still life, animals, buildings, interdisciplinary arts and abstracts. Winners will have their artwork displayed in the lieutenant governor’s office at the Statehouse for one year.
Applications with electronic copies of artwork can be submitted through lg.in.gov or mailed to 200 W. Washington St., Room 333, Indianapolis, IN 46204. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 4.
Entries must be framed wall art only, maximum size with frame of 42 by 60 inches and a maximum weight of 60 pounds. They must be installation-ready with frame and hanging wires. Only one entry per artist.

Arts Fair on the Square calls for artists
BLOOMINGTON — The application deadline to participate in the 36th annual Arts Fair on the Square is Friday, April 1.
The juried show in downtown Bloomington featuring 110 artists will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 18.
In conjunction with Taste of Bloomington, the mission of the fair is to showcase fine art and crafts, connect artists with the art-buying community and promote commitment to the arts through a variety of experiences.
