Rotary club plans A Taste of Art fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Brown County will conduct A Taste of Art wine tasting and art auction Saturday, March 19, at The Seasons Lodge Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East.
Wine-tasting with heavy hors d’oeuvres begins at 5:30 p.m. A fine arts auction will start at 7 p.m. Bidding will begin at $30.
Art to donate or auction is welcome.
Wooden Wonders will create chainsaw art in the parking lot. An artist will paint during the wine tasting, and a silent auction will include art of other media besides paintings.
The event includes wine and food and costs $35 per person or $60 per couple.
Proceeds will benefit charities supported by the local Rotary Club including Mother’s Cupboard, local students through scholarships, a foreign exchange program, students of the month and a Rotary Interact Club at the high school and.

‘Signs of the Imagination’ displayed at gallery
Gary Anderson of Bloomington Designs has made most of the signs in Nashville, including those that greet visitors as they drive into town. But his studio includes a collection of signs that represent places from his imagination.
The Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artist Drive, will feature the Hoosier sign maker’s “Signs of the Imagination” through Sunday, March 27.
Past guild member artists featured for March
Visit the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., during March to see a selection of work from past member artists as well as two floors of new work from current members.
The Brown County Art Guild is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

Display extended for photo club’s work
Work by members of the Brown County Photography Club is featured at Chateau Thomas Winery, 225 S. Van Buren St., through March.
The show features a variety of photographic styles from established and emerging artists, including Sharon Bussert, Jessica Bussert, Shirley Lance, Max Lance, John Drebus, Pamela Drebus, Walt Sterneman, Gail Hyde, Tyria McKain, Dan Troglin, Dick Haggard, Susan Showalter and Tony Cecere.

Arts Fair on the Square calls for artists
BLOOMINGTON — The application deadline to participate in the 36th annual Arts Fair on the Square is Friday, April 1.
The juried show in downtown Bloomington featuring 110 artists will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 18.
In conjunction with Taste of Bloomington, the mission of the fair is to showcase fine art and crafts, connect artists with the art-buying community and promote commitment to the arts through a variety of experiences.

Watercolor demo, workshop offered at guild
Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., will host artists Sandy Ezell and Rena Brouwer for a demonstration of watercolor painting on Yupo paper from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, April 2.
Yupo is a synthetic, polypropylene paper. Waterproof and stain-resistant, the non-absorbent surface resists tearing and buckling and remains flat, eliminating the need for soaking, stretching or taping.
The demonstration is free and open to the public.
From 1 to 3 p.m., a workshop will be taught. Attendance is limited to 20. Guild artists and patron members receive a discount on tickets to the workshop.

Painting retreat offered at Seasons Lodge
The Indy Decorative Artists’ 31st annual painting retreat will run from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, April 4 to 6 at The Seasons Lodge, State Road 46 East.
The retreat includes painting instruction and shopping. The cost is $25 for nonmembers, plus the cost of chosen classes and supplies.

Large works featured for April at art guild
The Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St. will feature large works by artist members during April in an exhibit called “Magnum Opus.”
On Saturday, April 9, the guild will host a “Slow Art Day” at which participants can view five paintings from the collection for five to seven minutes each. That will be followed by a discussion and picnic with the artists at the Village Green Pavilion.

Guild hours in general are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Congressional Art Competition open to students
JEFFERSONVILLE — Congressman Todd Young (R-Indiana) encourages high school students to enter the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.
One entry will be selected to represent the 9th Congressional District of Indiana in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., for a year as part of an exhibition. In addition, this artist will receive a pair of round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., for a gala reception in June.
Entries will be scored by a panel of artists from the 9th District in photography and non-photography categories. The runner-up’s artwork will be displayed in the Jeffersonville District office for a year.
Additionally, a social media runner-up will be selected through votes on Young’s Facebook page: facebook.com/RepToddYoung. The artist’s work that receives the most “Likes” will will be displayed in the Bloomington Constituent Service Center for a year.
Deadline for submitting entries is Tuesday, April 15. The winning entry will be announced in May.
