The price of full-pay school meals is going up 5 cents next school year.
Lunch will cost $2.75 and breakfast will cost $1.65.
The increase will not affect reduced-price lunches.
The increase was tied to the rising cost of food and production along with following USDA Guidelines on lunch prices, said Food Service Director Jason Kirchhofer.
Last year, the school board approved a 10-cent increase for the current school year. Kirchhofer said he could have raised the price by 10 cents for next school year, but he wanted to avoid doing that two years in a row.
The state had recommended an increase to $2.78, but settled for $2.75, he said.
School board approves personnel changes
At the April 7 Brown County School Board of Trustees meeting, members approved the following:
- Retirement notices of Tom Baker and Julie Eddins, effective at the end of this school year.
- The separation of Van Buren special needs paraprofessional Hilary Bryan, effective April 8. This was not a termination. To replace her, Kelly Schwenk was transferred for $8.86 per hour, effective April 11.
- The separation of Helmsburg Elementary School after-school care provider Hannah Patterson, effective immediately. This was not a termination.
- The separation of Helmsburg third- and fourth-grade social studies teacher Sarah Lynch, effective at the end of the school year. This was not a termination.
- The separation of Sprunica Elementary School kindergarten teacher Katie Mills, effective at the end of the school year. This was not a termination.
- The appointment of Sprunica Title I paraprofessional Abigail Alderdice, part-time, four days per week, $8.86 per hour, effective April 11. She is a replacement for Holly Baer.
