BEAN BLOSSOM — A search warrant served at a Bean Blossom trailer earlier this month has led to two more arrests, this time for dealing in methamphetamine.
On March 22, Samantha K. Gay, 37, Bean Blossom, and Perry N. Warfield, 40, Trafalgar, each were charged with a Level 5 felony, among other charges.
Brown County sheriff’s deputies and the Indiana State Police had served a search warrant on Gay’s trailer March 9. The warrant also included Warfield’s cellphone.
Warfield was already in jail on drug possession charges after being arrested at the trailer March 9 on a Johnson County parole warrant.
Lisa M. Simpson, 58, Bean Blossom, was also arrested March 9. She is Gay’s mother, the police report said. Simpson was charged with possession of methamphetamine and two misdemeanors.
Brown County Detective Paul Henderson listened to Warfield’s jail phone conversation with a relative after his arrest. Warfield expressed concern over police having his cellphone.
Police reported finding several text messages between Gay and Warfield discussing methamphetamine deals and making methamphetamine using the “shake and bake” method.
The text messages on Warfield’s phone also show him setting up or attempting to set up sales of methamphetamine and marijuana in Brown County and “the city,” the affidavit said.
Police also searched Simpson’s phone after her arrest and reported finding text messages setting up drug transactions.
On Feb. 2, Simpson told Gay she needed to come to her home and “clean her pipe,” the affidavit said. Simpson lives in a different trailer in the same court, the report said. Simpson was given instructions to put money in Gay’s jewelry box, and Henderson reported finding cash in the box.
Another message thread had Simpson arranging to pick up drugs from a local restaurant where Gay works. Gay instructed her to order a half-order of biscuits and gravy with a side order of hash browns and that the drugs would go in her food order to go, the affidavit said.
After police searched Gay’s home March 9, police went to speak with her at the restaurant while she was working. Gay denied knowing of illegal drugs or drug dealing, the report said.
Police asked her about a tin containing needles in her dresser drawer. Gay said that Warfield must have hidden the tin there without her knowledge, the affidavit said.
But when she was questioned about a Hello Kitty tin with marijuana, Gay admitted they belonged to her. She continued to deny knowing about drug deals, but admitted to using “on occasion,” the affidavit said.
Along with dealing in methamphetamine, Gay was charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
In addition to his charges from earlier this month and dealing in meth, Warfield was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
