Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club was named Distinguished Rotary Club for 2016-17 at the recent Rotary district conference in Columbus.

District governor Laura Carie chose the club despite its being one of the smallest clubs in the 35-club district. She cited the Brown County club for its accomplishments, including almost perfect attendance by members; highest per capita contributions to Rotary International Foundation; winning matching district grants for Mother’s Cupboard/Helping Hands and rebuilding the pumphouse on the Village Green; sending exchange students abroad; forming an Interact Club at Brown County High School; providing scholarships for graduates; recognizing students of the month and teachers of the year; sending shelter boxes to disaster areas around the world; and many other charitable acts.

Carie also praised the club for its teamwork in moving through roadblocks to success with its Taste of Art fundraiser.
