Rotary club
Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Lauren Hunt of Brown County has returned from her one-year exchange in Peru, South America.
She will speak about her experience at the next Brown County Rotary Club breakfast meeting, at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, July 20. The club meets weekly in Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St. Anyone interested in Rotary is welcome at the meeting.
Hunt’s time in Peru was divided between the capitol, Lima, on the Pacific coast, and the mountain city of Cusco. Her participation in the program, sponsored by the local Rotary Club, was supported by Rotary clubs in Lima and Cusco.
While there, Hunt lived with local Rotary host families and attended school at the Universidad a las Peruanas in Cusco. In addition to academic studies, Hunt visited the ancient city of the Incas, Machu Picchu, and the Peruvian jungles of the Amazon River. While in the Amazon River Basin, she and other Rotary exchange students were involved in a service project to help build a new school in a remote village.
Hunt will soon begin her freshman year at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Box 1086, Nashville, IN 47448. The application for the school year, which can take a considerable amount of time to complete, is normally due by the beginning of September.
Literary club
The Nashville Literary Club will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at Ann Callahan‘s home.
Kathy Anderson will present a discussion of the book “Sharing Poems,” by Mary Oliver. Co-hostess is Gail Huff.
Members will carpool at 1:40 p.m. from the east end of the Brown County IGA parking lot off 46 East or from the St. David’s Episcopal Church lot in Bean Blossom.
WRAPS
The Writers, Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. The next meeting is July 20. Meetings are at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.
TOPS weight loss group
COLUMBUS — National nonprofit weight-loss group, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, also known as TOPS, meets at the MainSource Bank meeting room, 2310 W. Jonathan Moore Pike. Meetings begin with weigh-ins at 10:30 a.m. Mondays, followed by the meeting at 11:30 a.m.
All are welcome to try the club for free.

Cedar Hills homemakers
The Cedar Hills Extension Homemakers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, in the lower level of the Brown County Public Library for a pitch-in lunch. New members are welcome.

League of Women Voters
The Brown County League of Women Voters will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 14 in a lower-level room of the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. The group meets the second Monday of each month.
