Owen Campbell

Owen L. Campbell, 88, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin.

He was born March 19, 1929, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Lenard Lonzo Campbell and Emma Pearl (Baker) Campbell. He married Karen S. (Baker) Campbell on May 21, 1977 in Indianapolis; she survives.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He had been employed by Starks and Wetzel/Rath Meat Packing in Indianapolis for 30 years. He later was a driver for the American Red Cross in Indianapolis from 1990 to 1994. He was a member of Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin. He was also a member of the Hoosier Appaloosa Horse Club. He enjoyed participating in rodeos in his younger days, trail riding, spending time with his horses and spending time at the lake.

flagSurvivors include his wife, Karen S. (Baker) Campbell of Franklin; four children, Rodney L. Campbell (Karen) of Indianapolis, Deby C. Phillips (Terry) of Lizton, Randall L. Campbell (Diana) of Fishers and Donna C. Dunson (Lindsey) of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Ryan L. Campbell, Faith E. D. J. Phillips, Vanessa Campbell and Owen R. Campbell; brother, Paul E. Campbell (Betty) of Williston, Florida; and sister, Barbara F. Tate of Simpsonville, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Patricia L. Campbell; two brothers, Otis W. Campbell and Allen Campbell; and three sisters, Ruby Clark, Elizabeth Yates and Hazel Rusher.

The Revs. Jeff Johnson and Dale Holzbauer will conduct a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Fair Haven Christian Church, 1476 W. 300 South, Franklin. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Military honors will follow the service.
