Club news for week of Aug. 23

Rotary Club

Discussion of current projects, such as the county fair, the Village Green pumphouse renovation and other avenues of service for the 2017-18 Rotary year will be on the agenda when the Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast Thursday, Aug. 24. The group convenes at 7:15 a.m. at Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

All are welcome, especially those interested in being of service to the community.

Weight loss group

COLUMBUS — National nonprofit weight-loss group, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, also known as TOPS, meets in the MainSource Bank meeting room, 2310 W. Jonathan Moore Pike. Monday meetings begin with weigh-ins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the meeting at 11:30 a.m.

Quilters guild

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Star Quilters Guild’s regular monthly meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Masonic Lodge, 4131 Rocky Ford Road. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.

The program will be a presentation by Tree City Stitches on new products and fabrics that lend themselves to “stack-and-whack” quilts.

All are encouraged to bring their latest sewing project for show-and-tell. There is no charge for the meeting; all are welcome.

WRAPS

The Writers, Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. The next meeting is Sept. 7. Meetings are at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.

Rock, mineral club

Brown County Rock & Mineral Club members will host a rock and mineral show/swap from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St.
