Former resident shot, killed in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — A former Brown County man was shot and killed in an Indianapolis parking lot on Nov. 2, and police and family members are still looking for answers.

Robert C. Aynes, 55, graduated with the Brown County High School Class of 1980, said his brother, Steve Aynes, Class of ’83.

Aynes was killed in the parking lot of his apartment complex on Devington Road just after 10:30 p.m., according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, which is continuing to investigate the case.

As of Nov. 22, no arrests had been made.

“Robert was a kind, loving son, brother, husband and father,” his younger brother said. “He would give you the shirt off his back.”

He is also survived by his wife, Kim; a daughter and stepson; and his parents, Mary Jane and Charles Aynes of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Police ask anyone who might have information on the case to make an anonymous tip at crimetips.org.

“Someone knows, saw or heard something. Please help bring justice to him and his family,” Steve Aynes posted on Facebook.
