Letter: Consider these actions come reelection time

0

To the editor:

Because government officials and investors in support of the Maple Leaf project expect so much opposition, they will condone no further discussion or debate on the matter. They are, of course, afraid they might lose. They lack conviction.

Clearly, though they are doing things by the “book” (with pertinent information still lacking on this issue), our local government has ceased being a democratic institution. It has chosen to be careless of opposition, of seeking majority opinion and avenues of debate and so will persist in discord and continue to precipitate the upheaval of our town while forcing cooperation with businessmen (this being a special and accepted form of tyranny).

And, since they no longer uphold democracy, these officials have to go.

Take into consideration that many of these officials are up for re-election this coming November. Let us vote them out then, and put trustworthy folk into positions who will serve the body politic democratically, and not special interests in tourism.
