TAKE NOTE: Early voting; water line replacement

Early primary voting under way

Primary election day in Indiana is Tuesday, May 8. However, voters don’t have to wait until then to cast ballots.

Any Brown County voter can vote in person at the County Office Building, 201 Locust Lane in Nashville, during the following dates and times:

Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., through Monday, May 7 (closing at noon May 7)

Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., April 28 and May 5

Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 8. On election day, you must visit the poll for the precinct in which you live to vote.

All walk-in absentee and Election Day voters need to present a government-issued photo identification prior to voting. The ID must state the name of the voter; contain his or her photograph; have an expiration date and still be valid, or expired after Nov. 8, 2016; and be issued by Indiana or the U.S. government.

With questions, call the county clerk’s office at 812-988-5510.

Freeman Ridge access limited

Traffic on Freeman Ridge Road is being limited while contractors for the town of Nashville replace a water line.

Work was set to start Monday, April 23 and last through the end of August or early September, town administration reported last week.

Contractors will be on site Mondays to Thursdays, working 10-hour days, the town reported. During the project, residents who live north of the work area on Freeman Ridge are asked to enter and exit their property via Bear Wallow Road.

Freeman Ridge may be closed at times.

“During the time of replacing the water line, contractors will also be hooking up existing service lines to the new line for our customers along with installing two hydrants,” the town reported.

“For those customers who have septic lines that run under Freeman Ridge, we ask that you contact the town administration at 812-988-5526 for locating purposes.”
