Teen injured after deer runs in front of vehicle

HAMBLEN TWP. — A local teenager was injured on April 11 when the car he was riding in crashed into a ditch after a deer ran in front of it.

The teenage driver told police he was driving north on Sweetwater Trail near Hicks Road when the deer ran out in front of his Jeep and he swerved to miss it just before 8:30 p.m.

The Jeep then ran off the west side of the road and came to rest in a ditch, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell.

The front-seat passenger told police he hit his elbow on the windshield when the Jeep hit the ditch. He was checked out by EMS at the scene and was not transported to the hospital, according to the report.

The Jeep was removed by a truck and trailer.

Both teens were wearing their seat belts.
