JACKSON TWP. — A Glenwood man received minor injuries after police say he fell asleep driving home from work and crashed his car into a creek on State Road 45 June 21.

The crash happened at 10:19 a.m. near Morrison Road, according to an accident report from Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, Michael D. Grizzell, 27, told Moore he had left work in Bloomington due to rain. While driving on 45, Grizzell said he believes he fell asleep and ran off the road, the accident report states.

Grizzell was eastbound on 45 and went straight in a right curve, off the north side of the road and into a creek, the police report said. There was no evidence of braking or skid marks prior to the car leaving the road. The vehicle was flipped over and facing west in the creek, the report said.

Grizzell was checked out by EMS due to a forehead injury with minor bleeding, but he refused transport to a hospital. His vehicle was towed. He was wearing a seat belt and the airbag did deploy, the report states.
