Motorcycle driver airlifted after 135 North crash

JACKSON TWP. — A Martinsville man was flown from a motorcycle crash scene on State Road 135 North.

The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. June 29 near Red Bud Lane, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy William Pool. He reported finding the driver, Joel A. Cooke, 37, lying on the ground with blood on him.

Pool was unable to interview Cooke due to his injuries, which were internal and in his back, the police report said. He was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.

Pool reported that it appeared Cooke had run off the road.

Cooke’s motorcycle was towed. He was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
