Report: Stuck gas pedal caused crash that injured passenger

A passenger was injured early this morning when the gas pedal in a Jeep got stuck and the vehicle hit a pole, police said.

The crash happened on Powell Drive, which is off Georgetown Road on the far eastern side of Brown County.

Peter Jones, 41, of Powell Drive, was driving south at about 12:30 a.m. when the accelerator got stuck, and he couldn’t control the vehicle before it ran into a utility pole, the accident report said. It was a 1999 Jeep Cherokee.

Wyndi Chergosky, 31, of Powell Drive, had right leg injuries, but she refused transport to the hospital, the report said. Her airbag had deployed, but the driver’s did not, the report said. Officer Colton Magner wrote that the initial impact was near the front driver’s side headlight. Jones did not complain of any injuries, the report said.
