Coach’s comments: The Eagles returned to action tonight with a dual match against the Tigers of Triton Central and came away with a 3-2 victory. Tonight, our younger players led the way for the Eagles with all wins coming from either a sophomore or a freshman. I was really proud of how the No. 2 doubles team of Nolan Patterson and Spencer Blee came back not only once but twice from big set deficits. It was their third set tie-break that clinched the victory for us. Aaron and Chase played well, but just were beaten by better opponents.

No. 2 doubles: Austen Deckard/Eli Sichting (BC) d. Aaron Hunter/Nick Vanaartsen (CE) 6-4

Coach’s comments: The Eagles played a very competitive match tonight against the Olympians and came up just short of a victory. I feel we were still feeling the emotional and physical effects of last night’s victory. Chase settled in and had one of his best career matches and Aaron came up a few shots short of a victory. Josh once again was solid in his No. 3 singles win. Both doubles teams dug holes that were a struggle to come out of. I really thought that Nolan and Spencer played as well as they did last night, but had a couple of games that just slipped away. Our JV players once again got some much needed playing time.

No. 2 doubles: Eli Sichting/Austen Deckard (BC) d. Mason Elkins/Kaleb Dill (OV) 6-0

Coach’s comments: The Eagles put forth one of their best efforts tonight in a WIC match and came up just short of their goal to represent the Eastern Division in the WIC championship with a 1-4 loss to the Owen Valley Patriots. Josh Miller at No. 3 singles was our lone winner. The No. 2 doubles team of Nolan and Spencer lost a tough second set. No. 1 singles player Aaron fought hard in both sets coming up with a 8-6 tie-break win in the second set, but had to retire due to an injury down 2-0 in the third set. The Eagles will enjoy a small break before they travel to Edgewood next Thursday to play another WIC East foe. It has been a good start of the season for the Eagles and they will continue to improve and work hard to prepare for possible chance to play in the third/fourth-place crossover game.

Coach’s comments: Behind senior Ashley Masteller’s 79, which claimed medalist honors, the BCHS Eagles grabbed the third spot in the 12-team WIC field at Forest Park Golf Course in Brazil with a 393. The host Northivew Knights, playing on their home course, captured first place shooting a 372. Indian Creek nosed out the Eagles for the second spot with a 384. While no other Eagle was able to finish in the top 15, freshman Ainslie Winton recorded a 99, one stroke above the cut line for all-conference honors.
