Three motorcycles crash after another crosses center line

Three motorcycle riders were injured over Labor Day weekend when another motorcycle crossed the center line on State Road 135 South.

The crash was reported just after 12:30 p.m. Sept. 3 near the Brown County Humane Society shelter. The Democrat received the accident report this morning.

Andree Odell, 33, of Indianapolis, told police that three motorcycles were driving south on 135 South when a northbound motorcycle crossed over the center line into the path of hers, according to an accident report by Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Odell said she slowed suddenly to avoid a collision. Her motorcycle was then rear-ended by a motorcycle driven by Steven Enriquez, 52, of Indianapolis.

Enriquez’s motorcycle was struck from behind by another motorcycle driven by Charles Burris, 46, of Indianapolis, causing him to crash into Odell’s bike, the report states.

Burris was taken by ambulance from the scene with an injury to his knee/lower leg/foot.

Odell was treated at the scene for minor bleeding to her elbow/lower arm. Enriquez was treated at the scene for a complaint of pain to his entire body, the report states.

A witness who was following the three motorcycles reported seeing them go down due to the northbound motorcycle crossing into the southbound lane.

Another witness reported she was driving north when she stopped due to a turtle in the road. She told police that a group of southbound motorcycles also slowed, but lost control and went down, according to the report.

None of the drivers were wearing helmets.
