JACKSON TWP. — A Trafalgar man was charged with three felonies on Sept. 20 after police say he broke into a former friend’s home and stole guns, jewelry, boots and a TV.

The investigation against Brock Lynn, 23, began at the end of August, reported Det. Brian Shrader with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht responded to a home in the 5400 block of Carmel Ridge Road for a report of burglary, theft and residential entry.

The property owner had left on a hunting trip on Aug. 28. On Sept. 4, Shrader spoke with the owner’s mother who provided him with a list of guns that were missing. Eggebrecht also received a handwritten descriptions and list of serial numbers for each gun. The owner did this after having a gun stolen approximately a year ago, the affidavit states.

Shrader was able to find a missing bow at a pawn shop in Indianapolis. Lynn had sold the bow to the pawn shop on Sept. 3. Shrader also found a television that had been stolen from the home at a pawn shop in Columbus.

Lynn’s family told Shrader that he was trying to leave the state after receiving a text about the missing items.

He was arrested on Sept. 14 in Marion County. Shrader obtained a search warrant for his cellphone records and was able to place him in Brown County around the time of the burglary.

The gun owner’s mother also said many pieces of jewelry — including family heirlooms — were missing from the home. The owner’s girlfriend reported finding clothes in the home that did not belong to them and that the suspects stole a pair of boots, too, the report said.

Lynn was charged Sept. 20 with burglary, a Level 4 felony; and residential entry and theft, both Level 6 felonies.
