Nineveh man faces intimidation charge

A Nineveh man faces a felony intimidation charge after police say he threatened a man’s life and lunged at him with a hammer in his hands while they were hanging siding on a house.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner responded to a report of intimidation in the 2400 block of Hornettown Road on Sept. 15 just after 8 p.m., according to a probable cause affidavit.

The victim said that Jason Yager, 32, was working on hanging siding with him. He said he became aggressive after he told him to leave the property following a disagreement about the siding work.

The victim told police that Yager said that he was going to “beat the life” out of him and that when he lunged at him, he had a hammer in his hand that had been in his tool belt, according to the affidavit.

The victim said the hammer was “half drawn” as if he was going to hit him with it. He said he thought he could have been badly hurt if he had not called police.

When asked, Yager said there was no confrontation and the victim had been “verbally hostile” toward him. Magner noted that Yager was verbally aggressive during the incident and exhibited behavior that was consistent with the victim’s statement.

Yager was arrested and taken to the Brown County jail. He was charged with a Level 6 felony on Sept. 19.
