Man injured after hitting patch of ice, flipping truck

An 81-year-old Brown County man was injured in a crash on State Road 135 North on Nov. 20 when his truck hit a patch of ice and flipped on its side.

William Pruitt was trapped in his Ford Ranger, according to a report by Sgt. Scott Bowling with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash was reported just after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 135 North and Greasy Creek Road.

Pruitt told Bowling he was driving south around a curve uphill when he thought he hit a patch of ice. The rear of his truck “got away” and the truck went off the road before striking an uphill embankment. The vehicle then flipped on its right side, trapping Pruitt inside, the report states.

Pruitt was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance with bleeding to the head. His vehicle was towed due to disabling damage, the report states.
