Pioneer Women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the History Center, 90 E. Gould St. Interested women are welcome.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursday at Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St. Guests are welcome, especially those interested in learning about and helping with Rotary activities and projects.

MORGAN COUNTY — Six Brown County High School students attended a three-day Rotary Youth Leadership training program sponsored by Rotary at Bradford Woods. The objective is to develop leadership skills, confidence, insight into group behaviors and new friendships. Students apply to the program and are selected on the basis of current service to their community and leadership potential. At the Nov. 8 meeting, Rotarian Kathryn Richardson introduced Mekenzie Dunnuck as Rotary’s September student of the month. Mekenzie was nominated by Julie Owens, her physical education teacher and volleyball coach. In addition to the volleyball team, Mekenzie is a member of the history club and the student council and a science fair participant. Owens described Mekenzie as intelligent, compassionate, driven and always setting a good example for her friends, teammates and classmates. She plans to pursue a degree in chemical engineering focused on pharmaceutical applications at the University of Kentucky, where she has already been accepted, or at Illinois, Purdue or Wisconsin where she also has applied. Woodworkers club

The Brown County Woodworkers Club will conduct its annual “show and tell” meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 5 at the Brown County Public Library. The meeting is free and open to the public. Members can bring things made this year, pictures or a slide presentation.

Garden club

The Brown County Garden Club meets at 10:30 a.m. the first Thursday of each month at various locations. The next meeting will be Dec. 6. For more information, visit Brown County Garden Club on Facebook.

WRAPS

The Writers, Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. The next meetings will be Dec. 6 and 20 at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.

League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters of Brown County has a monthly board meeting from 10 a.m. to noon the second Monday of each month. Meetings are conducted in lower-level meeting room A of the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane. The next meeting will be Dec. 10 The public is welcome.

Genealogy group

The Brown County Genealogical Society meets  at 1 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the library, 205 Locust Lane. The next meeting will be Dec. 13.

Cemetery society

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society, a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group, meets at 4:15 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. The next meeting will be Dec. 11. The public is welcome.

Preservation group

The Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc. preservation group meets the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the Howard F. Hughes Community Building, 209 N. Van Buren St. All are welcome.

Photography club

The Brown County Photography Club meets from 7 to 9 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month in a lower-level room at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane. The next meeting will be Dec. 11. Anyone interested in photography is always welcome at meetings.

Members of the club currently have photos for sale at the Daily Grind, 114 S. Van Buren St. Photos will be shown on a rotating basis.

Herb society 

The Brown County Herb Society has changed its meeting time from 6:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Meetings are still the third Monday of each month in lower-level Room B at the Brown County Public Library. The next meeting will be Dec. 17. The public is welcome.
