Students learn about construction trades in Speakers Bureau this month

The Brown County Career Resource Center’s Speakers Bureau topic for December was construction trades. On Dec. 14, Cody Mosier, along with his sons, Baylee and Layton, spoke with Brown County Junior High School students in their physical education and health classes.

Baylee is a 2017 Brown County High School graduate and Layton is a senior.

“Our students heard about the excellent career pathways that the construction trades offer, as well as the schooling and background needed to qualify for a career in this field,” said Kathryn Kabe, career education coordinator with the Brown County Career Resource Center.

Kabe organizes the Speakers Bureau at the junior high school monthly.

Mosier has decades of experience in building trades. Baylee is in his second year of a five-year plumbers and pipefitters apprenticeship. Layton is preparing to apply in the spring for the same apprenticeship, Kabe said.

The students were also able to ask the men questions about their career field after their presentations.
