David Allen Percifield, 75, of Brown County, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 in Columbus.

He was born July 9, 1943 in Indianapolis to Wilber Allen Percifield and Eleanor Elizabeth Wilkerson Percifield. He was retired as a skilled trades journeyman from Allison/Rolls Royce in Indianapolis.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Percifield of Columbus; a son, Bryon Percifield of Bean Blossom; a grandson, Jacob Bryon (wife, Shelby) Percifield; a great-grandson, Laine Jacob Percifield; three sisters, Lynn Percifield, Susie Bessire and Cathy (husband, Michael) Kazimier; a brother, Andy (wife, Margo) Percifield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 22 years, Roberta Jeanenne Smith Percifield.

David was a 1962 graduate of Brown County High School; shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and attained the rank of RD3. While in the Navy he was stationed at Virginia Beach and then the USS Beale where he did a Mediterranean deployment. After his discharge he went to work in Indianapolis, first for Allison Transmission and then Rolls Royce. He was a director for Hoosier Hills Gun Club and a life member of the NRA. Other memberships include NFAA and IFAA. David enjoyed hunting and fishing and coached Brown County Little League for several years.

A memorial gathering will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North.

David was a very giving person; he was always the first to give blood when the need arose and in his death continued to give by donating to the Indiana Donor Network to help others in need.

Friends are encouraged to remember David by donating blood in his memory.
