Police blotter for week of March 5

Police investigate suspicious vehicle, arrest woman

An Indianapolis woman faces multiple felonies and a misdemeanor after a sheriff’s deputy stopped to investigate a suspicious vehicle, arrested her on a warrant and then deputies reported finding drugs in her vehicle.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Jimmy Green reported finding Cassandra Croley, 33, in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked at the end of a driveway in the 6900 block of Sweetwater Trail on Jan. 6, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Feb. 27. She was the only person in the vehicle.

Croley did not have photo identification, but was able to produce a debit card with her name on it from a wallet in the trunk. Dispatch ran Croley’s name and discovered she had a warrant out of Brown County, and Crowley admitted the same to police, the report said. She was arrested and taken to the Brown County jail without incident.

Deputies Austin Schonfeld, Colton Magner and Kyle Minor conducted an inventory of the vehicle before it was towed. The deputies reported finding a stolen debit card and drugs. A white crystalline substance that later field-tested positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine was found in a cigarette pack near the center console cup holder. The substance was sent to the state police lab, the report said.

The deputies also reported finding 22 pills in the wallet in the trunk. Eight of them were Aripiprozole, an anti-psychotic that is not a controlled substance, but does require a prescription. The remaining pills were identified as glucocotricoids, which are also not a controlled substance, but does require a prescription. Prescription information for both types of pills was not found during the search, according to the affidavit.

Police also found a debit card belonging to another woman who had recently made a theft report. In a follow-up interview, Jan. 9 the woman said she did not give permission to anyone to have the debit card and that she did not know Croley, the affidavit states.

The deputies also reported finding a partially burnt, hand-rolled marijuana cigarette in the backseat of the vehicle.

On Feb. 27, Croley was charged with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession or use of a legend drug, and theft, all Level 6 felonies. She was also charged with a Class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. Croley had a prior theft conviction in 2012, which elevated that charge to a Level 6 felony, according to the affidavit.

Traffic stop results in drug charges

A 21-year-old Bloomington man faces a misdemeanor and two infractions in Brown County after police reported finding paraphernalia in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Sgt. Scott Bowling with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department pulled over Logan Boley on Feb. 18. Boley had an identification card from Florida and dispatch determined his driver’s license in Florida was suspended, a probable cause affidavit states.

During the stop, Bowling reported smelling marijuana and finding a pipe, grinder, rolling papers and a metal pipe in the vehicle.

Boley was charged Feb. 19 with possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. He also was charged with driving while suspended and operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility, both Class A infractions.
