Police blotter for week of March 12

Man faces felony after grabbing woman by neck

A Brown County man has been charged with a felony after police say he grabbed a woman by her neck and threw her to the ground on Feb. 22.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholson Briles reported in a probable cause affidavit that Michael Wagers, 35, had grabbed the woman and thrown her to the ground. Briles reported seeing bruising on the victim’s arm along with redness on her neck and chest, the affidavit states.

Charges were filed against Wagers on March 5.

Stop for license results in meth arrest

A stop for driving with a suspended license resulted in the driver’s arrest on drug charges.

Nashville Police Officer Evan Painter stopped the vehicle in a hotel parking lot on March 3 because the driver possibly had a suspended license, the report said. When he walked up to the car, he reported smelling burnt marijuana.

The driver told Painter there was a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle and a burnt marijuana cigarette. He took ownership of the items. Two other people were in the car.

When the female passenger — Jennifer Marie Glenn, 32 — was exiting so police could search the vehicle, Painter reported she started “digging” on the side of her seat closest to the door, the affidavit states.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld reported finding a plastic bag with a folded $1 bill and a smaller bag containing a white crystalline substance which he believed to be methamphetamine. They were on the side of the front passenger seat where Glenn was digging, the report said. Glenn denied that the substance was hers, and so did the driver and backseat passenger.

The police also reported finding a syringe in side of Glenn’s purse. Glenn said the syringe was hers.

Glenn was placed under arrest and was taken to the Brown County jail.

The driver was issued a summons for possession of marijuana. The driver and backseat passenger were released from the scene.

Glenn was charged March 4 with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
