A Brown County man who was reported missing yesterday and who was the subject of a Silver Alert has been found alive almost 24 hours after he was reported missing.
Sheriff Scott Southerland said just before 4:30 p.m. that 76-year-old Joseph Carmer was found alive by firefighters in a wooded area about a half mile to mile from his home on Mt. Liberty Road.
Carmer was checked out by EMS and was being transported as non-emergent to Columbus Regional Hospital for further treatment, Southerland said.
A Silver Alert was issued after Carmer wandered way from his home in the 2900 block of Mt. Liberty Road yesterday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m.
Police, volunteer firefighters and K9s searched for Carmer using thermal imaging drones until almost 2 a.m. today. A helicopter with thermal imaging searched the area as well, but was unsuccessful, according to a press release from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.
The search resumed at 8 a.m. with around 80 people searching for him throughout the day, Southerland said.
The Silver Alert will be cancelled, Southerland said.
