Police blotter for week of April 30

Police: Man head-butted, pushed woman

A Brown County man faces a misdemeanor after police say he head-butted and pushed a woman on April 23.

Nick Whetstine, 65, of State Road 135 North, was charged April 23 with battery, a Class B misdemeanor.

Sgt. Scott Bowling Bowling reported seeing a mark on the woman’s lip and redness on her chest, the affidavit states.

Charges filed after drug screening test

A 39-year-old Brown County man faces two misdemeanors after police say he attempted to interfere with a probation drug test on April 12.

Bailiff Andy Reed reported to Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner that he was overseeing Baron Wendling giving a urine sample when Wendling appeared nervous and appeared to be messing with something, a probable cause affidavit states.

Wendling told Reed he would need to drink something before giving a sample, but then, the inner left leg of his pants began getting wet, the affidavit states.

Wendling allegedly told Reed he was not urinating and that he did not have any device to interfere with the test. Then, Wendling’s pants fell, and Reed reported seeing a clear tube which is sometimes used to interfere with a drug test, the report said.

Reed told police that once Wendling noticed the tube showing, he gave Reed the tube and a yellow container attached to it.

Wendling, of Orchard Hill Road, was taken to the Brown County jail. On April 15, he was charged with two misdemeanors: interfering with a drug or alcohol screening test, and possession of a device or substance used to interfere with a drug or alcohol screening test.
