Coach’s comments: The boys track team finished second at the Western Indiana Conference Championship on Friday night. The Eagles were led by Dale Phelps who earned All-Conference honors by winning both the 110- and 300-meter hurdle races. Phelps also came back and helped the Eagles place third in the 4×400 meter relay. Marino Dolph also had a strong evening for the Eagles. He led off the 4×800 that finished second, he finished second in the 1600 and was third in the 3200. To finish off the evening, he immediately turned around and led off the 4×400. Jackson McPheeters was runner-up in the 800 and had good anchor legs on both the 4×800 and 4×400. All scorers for the Eagles are listed below. They will be in action on Thursday, May 16 at the Bloomington Sectional.

Coach’s comments: Seniors Parker VanNess and Curtis Lookebill led the Eagle golfers to victory over the Hauser Jets Tuesday, May 7 at Salt Creek Golf Course. VanNess shot a 35, giving him medalist honors, while Lookebill carded a solid 42. Vanness’ round included an eagle and three birdies, and Lookebill had two birdies in his round. Both players struggled somewhat on the par 3s. Freshman Cooper VanNess recorded a 52 and junior Peyton Proctor turned in a 53 to account for the rest of the Eagles’ scoring. Brown County competes in the WIC championships Saturday, May 11 at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Gosport. Grouped with Indian Creek, Sullivan and West Vigo, the Eagles will start on hole No. 10 at 9 a.m. The Eagles finished sixth last year in the conference and will need to be at their best Saturday to better that position this year.

Coach’s comments: Brown County High School senior Parker VanNess battled a tough field and unseasonable weather conditions to claim medalist honors at the WIC golf championships Saturday, May 11 at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Gosport. VanNess, a two time runner-up his sophomore and junior seasons and a fifth place finisher his freshman year, fired a 74 to edge out Rece Heckman from Owen Valley, who finished with a 75. The Eagles shot a 370, good for 7th in the twelve team field. Curtis Lookebil fired an 89, Cooper VanNess carded a 97, and Rex Watters finished with a 110 for the Eagles. Greencastle won the team title with a 323. Brown County hosts two matches this week. The first is Wednesday, May 15 with Indian Creek, and then Thursday, May 16, Southwestern Shelby visits. Both matches should start at approximately 4:15.
