Child flown from crash on State Road 46 East

GNAW BONE — A 9-year-old had to be flown to a hospital after the vehicle he was riding in was rear-ended on State Road 46 East May 30.

Mandy Wade, 40, of Nashville, had stopped her vehicle in the eastbound lane to turn into Forest Hills Apartments when she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by John Zeigler, 18, of Nashville, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld.

Wade told police she had her turn signal on when the crash occurred.

Zeigler told police he had looked down and back up, but it was too late to avoid a collision.

Wade’s vehicle went off the south side of the road. She was taken to the hospital for a face injury, the report states.

The child was riding in the backseat and had a knee/lower leg/foot injury. He was taken to the hospital via a medical helicopter, according to the report.

Zeigler was not injured, the report said.

All involved were wearing seat belts. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
