Coach’s comments: In its last regular season match, the Brown County High School boys golf team shot a solid 180 and defeated the visiting Morristown Yellow Jackets by 23 strokes. Seniors Parker VanNess and Curtis Lookebill led the way for the Eagles. VanNess fired a blistering five-under-par 31, while Lookebill carded a 43. The two seniors were honored in a senior recognition night reception held after the match was concluded. Also scoring for the Eagles were Cooper VanNess with a 51 and Rex Watters with a 55. The Eagles will compete in the IHSAA sectional on Monday, June 3 at the Bloomington Country Club. Paired with Trinity Lutheran and West Washington, Brown County will tee off at 8 a.m. on hole No. 10.

Coach’s comments: Friday evening, Jackson McPheeters and Dale Phelps closed out their BCHS track and field careers at the state finals in Bloomington. Phelps opened up the night for the Eagles, finishing 24th in the 300 hurdles. Phelps clocked a time of 40.97. This was the second time he had competed in finals; he was a member of last year’s 4×400 relay team that competed at the championship and broke a 32-year school record. McPheeters competed in the 800, finishing 18th in a time of 1:58.50. This was the fifth event at the state championship McPheeters had competed in during his career. During his sophomore year, he ran on the 4×800 team, and last season he was also at the championships on the school record setting 4×400 and 4×800 teams, along with running the open 800. Congratulations and thank-yous go to both young men on what they have accomplished and for what they have given to their team/school.
