Coach’s comments: The Brown County boys golf team finished exactly where it was seeded, 8th, in the IHSAA sectional held at Bloomington Country Club Monday, June 3, shooting a 402, the highest 18-hole score of the season for the Eagles. While most of the Eagles struggled, senior Parker Van Ness secured his fourth consecutive trip to the regional, posting a 78, the sixth-best overall score and the lowest score of any individual from a non-advancing team. VanNess started the day on the tough back nine, where he turned in a 41 and followed that up with a much better score of 37 on the front side. VanNess finished strong with a well earned birdie on No. 8 and a tough par save on No. 9. In assessing his play, VanNess said he “wasn’t too happy.” Most of the senior’s issues were on the greens. “I had a lot of trouble on the greens, which usually doesn’t happen. My speed was a little off, and so were my reads,” he stated. VanNess will tee off at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, June 6 at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville.
