Bald Eagles

The Brown County Bald Eagles had their June 6 D-Day commemoration dinner at the Brown County Inn and hosted Gary Quigg, one of the world’s leading experts on the search for the lost aviator Amelia Earhart who went missing in the South Pacific during her around-the-world flight in 1937.

Quigg held an audience of more than 60 spellbound for more than an hour as he discussed the latest forensic evidence, including DNA research, in the quest to figure out what happened to the missing aviator. He will be involved in further explorations this summer when National Geographic will provide support as they continue their underwater search in the vicinity of Nikumaroro Island. Quigg is an Emmy Award recipient for his writing and producing, including numerous PBS documentaries.

The Brown County Bald Eagles have been meeting on or around Dec. 7 and June 6 in commemoration of the pivotal dates in World War II history for more than 30 years.
