Man dies in motorcycle crash on State Road 135 South

STORY — A 61-year-old Indianapolis man died in Brown County this weekend when he crashed his motorcycle while riding on State Road 135 South.

Michael Donnar ran off the road while trying to navigate a curve, Coroner Earl Piper said.

The crash was reported just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 in the 6700 block, south of Story.

Donnar went off the side of the road where his bike struck one tree and Donnar struck another, Piper said. He died of blunt force trauma and a skull fracture.

Piper said Donnar was an instructor at Lincoln Tech and was riding with a student when the crash occurred. A LinkedIn profile for a “Mike Donnar” listed him as a Lincoln Tech instructor.

Donnar was not wearing a helmet, Piper said.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Horn reported that Donnar was traveling at a high rate of speed into a curve at the time of the crash, according to an accident report.

He was pronounced dead at 2:11 p.m.

Horn reported seeing skid marks on the road and strike marks on the trees.

Donnar’s motorcycle was towed from the scene.
