Letter: An invitation to junior high- and high-schoolers

To the editor:

BETA is a program for teens to have a place to go and meet new people their age, a place where they can open up and not be afraid to show who they really are.

We have a place where kids can sit and play video games with their friends. Come and play the Xbox 360 and laugh with friends.

You like to play the drums, guitar, banjo, piano, keyboard? Come pay us a visit. We have all of them and there is a free guitar lesson from 3:30 to 4:30 this month and 4:30 to 5:30 the rest of the school year.

You like to sing also? Come pay us a visit. Come hook your phone or music up to the aux cord and sing all you want.

We have a place where you can come and sit with your friends and play board games or card games.

We have a library and we have an art room. Every other Tuesday we have someone come in and teach an art class.

There is always someone to talk to if you’re having a bad day or if you have something you need to get off your chest. BETA is just like a big family.

This year we are trying to get a fundraiser going so we can take the BETA kids that have earned their money and proved that they are mature enough to go to Holiday World.

BETA is located across the road from the Salvation Army in Nashville. We really hope to see you at BETA on Tuesdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m. We love to see new kids each day. BETA wouldn’t be BETA if it wasn’t for the kids who come each week.

I started to go to BETA in August 2018 and it was one of the best decisions I made. I have met so many great people. They have become my second family. They were there for me when I was feeling down. So many of them asked if everything was okay. I made so many new friends and have been working on learning how to play the guitar.

It would be really nice if we could get you reading this to come to BETA and join our little family and help us make it expand.
