BUSINESS BRIEFS: Chamber events; donate to business class prize

Chamber events focus on design, marketing

Brown County Chamber of Commerce will host two events this month, highlighting new businesses and inspiring those who wish to run their own.

A Connections event will take place at the Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artist Drive, on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Eagle Manufacturing and Brown County Design will be featured. An appetizer and wines will be offered from Brown County Winery.

All are welcome to learn the ways these businesses can help with advertising and promotional needs, from concept to creation. Contact Dee Manzenberger at 812-345-4655 for more information.

The chamber will present the fourth and final workshop in its Year of Marketing on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East.

Dave Morse will lead the session, “Top 10 (Digital) Things to Grow Your Business.” Morse will cover basic principles that will help clarify a business owner’s message and make online marketing endeavors more effective and more simple for customers to understand and act upon.

The workshop is free for Chamber members and $25 for non-members. Register at eventbrite.com/e/top-10-digital-things-to-grow-your-business-with-dave-morse-tickets-79988258033.

Donations requested for business class prize

The entrepreneurship class at Brown County High School is preparing for the annual Maverick Challenge, put on by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. The challenge is based on the TV show “Shark Tank.”

Local high school students will create a business plan for a start-up business of their choice. They then present their plan to judges who choose overall winners. Winners of the local competition will move on to the regional competition in Columbus, competing against the winners from nine other county schools. Winners of the regional competition advance to state.

BCHS entrepreneurship teacher Vince McCann is asking for donations toward prize money that can be given to local winners — hopefully a $500 minimum.

If you would like to contribute, email McCann at [email protected] or call 812-988-6606, ext. 1255.
