Local man killed in Three Notch Road crash

HAMBLEN TWP. — A 31-year-old Brown County man was killed Dec. 7 when the truck he was driving collided with a tree on Three Notch Road.

The crash was reported just after 10 p.m. near Petro Road. John P. Allison II was pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force head trauma, said Coroner Earl Piper on Dec. 9.

Piper said that Allison’s death was instantaneous, and he ruled it accidental.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner was dispatched to the crash in the 6000 block along with Deputy Kyle Minor, EMS and Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters who were on scene first reported that Allison had no pulse, according to Magner’s accident report. He was wearing a seat belt.

There were no direct witnesses to the crash, but two nearby residents reported hearing a loud crash followed by a loud radio coming from the 1994 GMC Sonoma truck. A resident also reported hearing the truck coming down the road at what was believed to be a high rate of speed.

Magner reported that it appeared the truck had been traveling south on Three Notch Road when it left the north side of the road and hit the tree. No skid marks were present on the asphalt where the vehicle ran off the road, the report states.

Piper did order a toxicology report. Those results will not be available for two to three weeks, he said.
