FEBRUARY

Strahl Lake
Strahl Lake’s overflow turned into a rushing waterfall in Brown County State Park during February flash flooding. The daylong storm blocked roads and stranded drivers, and damaged some homes and businesses.

MARCH

He gets some dumb ideas once in awhile.”

APRIL

Bags of collected trash sit along Spearsville Road April 13. Seven volunteers picked up 26 bags of trash in less than three hours that morning. The condition of public and private properties in Brown County and ways to dispose of trash were topics of discussion this year. A free Dumpster Day in June, sponsored by Keep Brown County Beautiful, turned into eight Dumpsters full of old furniture, electronics and other miscellaneous items that residents hauled in from all over the county.

MAY

Junior Emma Summers pitched all seven innings and managed to limit Northview to just three runs.
Junior Emma Summers pitches in the May 23 softball sectional game. She managed to limit Northview to just three runs, but the Eagles did not advance past the second round. Brown County finished its season at 19-4, including a 17-game win streak.

JUNE

JULY

SEPTEMBER

OCTOBER

Local Vietnam veteran Hank Marshall shows off his commemorative gift from the Brown County High School History Club during the annual Veterans Day program in the Larry C. Banks Memorial Gymnasium on Nov. 11. The History Club presented Marshall with the gift after it was announced that Marshall was recently inducted to the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame. Marshall joins the ranks of well-known Hoosier veterans, like wartime journalist Ernie Pyle and the 23rd president of the United States, Benjamin Harrison, who have also been inducted.
