Local woman taken to hospital after crash in Gnaw Bone

GNAW BONE — One person was taken to a hospital for a check-out on Jan. 2 after two vehicles collided on State Road 46 East and ended up in a yard near Gnaw Bone Coffee.

The crash happened at about 4:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of 46 East. Brown County Deputy Nicholson Briles found both vehicles in the yard on the north side of the road, both with airbags deployed. One driver was still in her vehicle.

The woman, Ola Patterson, 75, told police that she was OK, but sore. She said she was facing east on 46 East and getting ready to turn into her driveway and didn’t see the other vehicle coming at her.

Her 2004 Kia Amanti was struck in the passenger side by a 2006 Honda Pilot driven by Tyler Johnson, 21, of Alpharetta, Georgia. Johnson told police that the Kia turned right in front of him and he wasn’t able to stop in time.

Both vehicles went off the road; the Kia struck a row of mailboxes and the Pilot went into a ditch in Patterson’s yard, the accident report said.

Patterson was taken to a hospital for a check-out. Johnson was not injured. Both vehicles were towed to Brown County Tire.
