Creative writing workshop set at library
A series of creative writing sessions will be led by members of IU’s award-winning creative writing program at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane.
This series is curated by poet and IU faculty member Catherine Bowman. Each session will offer prompts, exercises, free writes and experiments to free up and ignite participants’ imagination. Participants will explore many approaches, techniques and strategies for writing their lives and celebrating their voices, and will leave each session with drafts of new work and new discoveries.
Sessions will be are:
- Sundays, March 22 and 29, April 5, 2 to 4 p.m.
- Thursdays, April 2, 9 and 16 to 8 p.m.
- Culmination event, Sunday, April 19, 2 to 4 p.m.
Attend one workshop or attend them all for free. All levels, ages and genres are welcome. A celebration and reading will take place Sunday, April 19 for all participants.

Annual art auction to benefit community
The fifth annual Taste of Art auction will be at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center, 560 State Road 46 East, on Saturday, March 28 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Guests can sample fine wines, beers and distilled liquors, eat hors d’oeurves, and place bids on the silent auction before the live fine art auction. Heirloom and contemporary artwork from collectible artists will be sold. The auction will be run by professional auctioneer Dennis Jackson.
Tickets are $50 in advance, $55 at the door.
The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Brown County and proceeds will go to support scholarships and other educational needs and charitable causes in the community.

Local restaurant hosting murder mystery dinner
Artists Colony Inn and Restaurant, 125 S. Van Buren St., will host “A Shady Murder” on Saturdays this year.
Muriel Westenbroek, the pompous, martini-drinking owner of Shady Hills Retirement Home, is not loved by her staff at all. She wants to cut the budget and fire people. Is her staff angry enough to do away with her? Come see if Dr. Rock, Nurse Flatchett and Nurse Hatti or the team of Moss and Hart send Muriel to her eternal reward in the comedic murder-mystery.
Shows are Saturdays, March 28, April 25, May 30, June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 12 and 26, Oct. 10, 17 and 24 and Nov. 14.

Art show and sale happening at Playhouse
Art Alliance Brown County is exhibiting 36 2D and 3D works from 16 member artists at the Brown County Playhouse gallery, 70 S. Van Buren St. The gallery is open most Thursdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. and on fourth Fridays until 6:30 p.m. The public can vote on their favorite works of art, determining the AABC “Best of Show.”

Shared art studio space available in town
B3 Gallery has created a space for artists and the community to come together.
S3, the Nashville “shared studio and maker space” is on the second floor of the gallery at 61 W. Main St. It is a meeting area for artists, craftspeople, inventors, clubs, seminars, classes or individuals.
S3 can provide painting and drawing easels; an alternative process darkroom; macro photography equipment; a digital projector; a glass annealing kiln and burnout kiln; PCB etching equipment and tanks; leaded glass tools; metal forming and casting tools; electronics and robotics fabrication tools; various computer numerical control tools; a scroll saw; band saw; drill press; centrifuge; bench grinder/polisher; laser cutter/engraver; air compressor; vacuum pumps; and chemistry vent hood.
The organizers seek “fun, energetic, enthusiastic and creative people to bring life to the space.”
Donations of under-utilized equipment or specialty tools also are being accepted.
