Injuries reported in rear-end collision on 46 West

BELMONT — Two drivers involved in a rear-end collision on State Road 46 West were treated at the scene for injuries.

The crash near T.C. Steele Road was reported just after 12:30 p.m. March 15.

Amber Hellyer, 28, Logansport, told police she was driving east on 46 West when she stopped to make a left turn into the Hickory Shades Motel parking lot, an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld states. Emily Hoffman, 20, of Bloomington, was driving east on 46 West behind Hellyer’s vehicle when the rear-end collision occurred.

Hoffman told police she had seen a vehicle with flashing lights and thought it might have been related to construction. She did not see that Hellyer’s vehicle was stopped.

Hellyer was treated at the scene by EMS for elbow and lower arm pain. Hoffman was treated at the scene for a complaint of chest pain.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
