Downtown Nashville stoplight to be repaired soon

Drivers may have noticed a crew working on the foundation for the stoplight at Main and Van Buren streets in downtown Nashville earlier this week.

The Indiana Department of Transportation dug out the foundation and the concrete was poured on April 1 for the new stoplight.

Workers were waiting on the concrete to cure, then the contractor, Midwestern Electric, will be able to finish replacing the stoplight, said INDOT Seymour district Media Relations Director Natalie Garrett.

If weather permits, Garrett said the project could be done sometime within the next week.

Traffic on State Road 135 continues to flow through a four-way stop after a driver badly damaged the pole that held Nashville’s downtown stoplight in December.

An Indianapolis man was charged in February with a Level 6 felony for purposely driving into the light pole.
