Teen flown to hospital after ATV crash

VAN BUREN TWP. — A teenager was injured in an ATV crash on Aug. 15 and had to be taken by a medical helicopter to the hospital.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies Dan Acres and William Pool responded to the crash at eXplore Brown County, along with EMS and the Brown County (Nashville) Volunteer Fire Department.

When officers found the injured teen, she was lying on her back in a creek. Witnesses said she lost control of the four-wheeler while coming down a steep hill and went into the creek bed, according to a narrative from Pool.

The four-wheeler landed against the teen. When police arrived, she said that she could not move her legs. EMS requested a medical helicopter to take her to Indiana University Methodist Hospital.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, which normally investigates off-road vehicle crashes, was going to follow up with the victim, according to the sheriff’s department.
