Lifeguard training happening next month

The Brown County YMCA will host American Red Cross lifeguard training Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20.

The course includes certification in ARC lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, assuming that candidates successfully complete the written and physical skills tests.

Online training is completed on the trainee’s own and must be completed by Friday, Sept. 18. That portion of the course is 12 hours.

Candidates must be responsible, reliable, able to perform under pressure, swim 300 yards continuously, be at least 15 years old and have reliable transportation.

The cost is $175 and includes instruction and materials. The deadline to register is Monday, Sept. 14.

Wellness event planned at the Story Inn

STORY — The Story Inn Bed and Breakfast will host Wellness in the Woods on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Put on by DNK Presents, the outdoor day retreat will start with an hour long yoga session in the barn, followed by a guided hike and meditation.

Lunch will be served on the patio at Story Inn restaurant.

Women’s mountain biking weekend set for fall

DNK Presents will host Campside Sessions Women’s Mountain Bike Camp Saturday through Sunday, Sept. 18 to 20, at Brown County State Park.

Participants will be instructed by professional coaches. Meals and primitive on-site camping is included.
