BRIGHT SPOTS: Some good news

An actual free lunch

Staff working at the COVID clinic at the Brown County Music Center were surprised with lunch money earlier this month.

“I also want to throw out a thank you to the very wonderful person that donated some money today to get pizza for the staff and volunteers over there,” Brown County Emergency Management Agency Director Susan Armstrong said at the Feb. 3 county commissioners meeting.

“… We got some Brozinni’s delivered over for lunch today, so that helped with the morale again, just getting a little recognition from the community for what we’ve been doing.”

COVID-19 shot transport

Brown County veterans and TRIAD volunteers have been helping get people to their COVID-19 vaccine appointments who can’t otherwise make it themselves.

Brown County Public Health Preparedness Coordinator Corey Frost asked TRIAD if they could identify people who are age-eligible for vaccines but are homebound, and a couple weeks ago, TRIAD was able to bring in 16 of those people to get doses that had not been claimed by the end of the day, with more to come.

“One person was struggling being a caregiver to his wife who has no immunity whosoever, and that veteran wasn’t scheduled to get a shot for another month and we were able to get him in,” said volunteer Keith Baker. “To me, that was a real save for he and his wife. That was pretty cool.”

Anyone needing a ride to a vaccine appointment can call Access Brown County at 812-988-0185.
