Police: Local woman, 46, had syringes, meth in car

Police arrested a 46-year-old Brown County woman on June 29 after police reported finding methamphetamine and syringes in her car after a stop for incorrect license plates.

Nashville Police Officer Lindsey Downing stopped Michelle Gault after Gault’s speed and behaviors changed as she drove behind her, the officer wrote. Gault continuously checked her rearview mirrors once she realized Downing was behind her on State Road 46 East, a probable cause affidavit states.

Downing found that Gault’s license plate returned to a different truck, so she stopped the vehicle on Old State Road 46 just off 46 East.

Gault told the officer she knew the plates did not match her truck. Downing reported smelling marijuana while talking with her. Gault said she had a small bag in her purse. When she was asked to exit her truck, Gault told the officer she had a brown bag behind her driver’s seat with drugs and paraphernalia inside.

Downing reported finding four syringes, a tube containing a crystal substance that field-tested positive for meth, a rubber tie-off, two vials containing a crystal substance, a straw with crystal residue on it, a jar with marijuana inside, a grinder with marijuana residue, and two glass pipes with marijuana inside.

Gault was arrested and taken to the Brown County jail. Her truck was towed.

She was charged July 1 with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
