Letter: Author needs photos of Christmas at home

0

To the editor:

I am writing today to ask for a big favor. I have written another book and I am asking that anyone who reads this letter send me their favorite picture of how their home looks on Christmas morning or during the season.

The name of this book tentatively is “Brown County Christmas,” or “Christmas in Brown County,” or some such. This will be decided as the book layout is made. I would like for this book to show the world how we live here in Brown County. It is designed to be a coffee table type book that everyone can show other family members when they arrive to spend Christmas day with them.

It can be a picture of their decorated Christmas tree with or without presents under the tree, kids opening presents, their Christmas table set for dinner, kids standing in line in a store to sit on Santa’s lap or telling him what they want to receive while either crying or smiling. All pictures concerning Christmas would be acceptable and appreciated. Or if they have a picture of the Santa train coming into Helmsburg that would be very good, or just Christmassy things around the area where they each live.

As most people know I love to write books and this is by far the most exciting one I have written in a long time and I would love to involve as many people in its production as I possibly can. We are a proud people and love this county with a passion. Let’s reveal the most exciting occasion of the year in these family pictures to both the locals and our visitors who yearn to live here.

Each picture can be submitted to me either by sending it to my email address [email protected]; drop it by my home at 7256 Keith Donaldson Road, Freetown, 47235; or by the US Postal service at this same address. The pictures will remain a part of the book’s file and cannot be returned, so please do not send me your only copy. Stop by and I’ll scan it into my computer, or you can go to the library and do that for free, I believe.

The picture must contain the name of the person shown if a person is shown; who sent the photograph to me; and their OK for me to use this photo in the book along with their telephone number in case I have any questions.

The very best picture will be used as the front cover of the book so look at your pictures from the past and get them on their way to me by Oct. 15 if at all possible. That should give me sufficient time to scan them into my computer and place them appropriately in the book.

There are other perks for the picture provider, but these have not all been worked out as of today as I write this.
