Local boards accepting appointment applications

Have you ever considered volunteering to serve on a county or town board?

If so, now is your time to apply.

The Brown County Council will make appointments to the following county boards: Alcoholic Beverage Commission; the Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals; the Brown County Public Library Board; the Brown County Regional Sewer District; the Redevelopment Commission; and the Community Corrections Advisory Board.

Those who wish to be considered by the county council for any of these appointments must submit their resume and/or letter of interest to the county auditor by 4 p.m. on Jan. 7. Applicants must then plan to attend the Jan. 18 county council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Salmon Room at the County Office Building, 201 Locust Lane, either via Zoom or in person. At that time they will be asked to briefly speak about their interest in serving and their qualifications.

The county council is expected to make appointments at the Jan. 18 meeting. For more information, call 812-988-5485.

Brown County Commissioners are also accepting applications for appointments to the following: The Board of Health; the Convention and Visitors Commission; the Helmsburg Regional Sewer District; the Hamblen Township Fire District Board; the Area Plan Commission; the Board of Zoning Appeals; and the Brown County Public Defender Board.

Applicants must submit their resume and/or letter of interest to the county commissioners office in the County Office Building by 4 p.m. on Dec. 13. Appointments will then be made at the Dec. 15 meeting. For more information, call 812-988-4901.

The Town of Nashville is also accepting applications to serve on the following boards: Alcoholic beverage commission; Animal Control Commission; the Arts and Entertainment Commission; the Development Review Commission; the Parking and Public Facilities Development Corporation; the town Redevelopment Commission; the Tree Board; and the Town Park Commission.
