Closings, cancellations this week

So far, the following organizations have announced closures or schedule changes for Wednesday, Feb. 2 and Thursday, Feb. 3 due to the weather forecast:

  • Brown County School Board of Trustees meeting postponed until Feb. 10.
  • Brown County Schools will dismiss at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2. Thursday, Feb. 3 will be an eLearning day and Friday, Feb. 4 school is canceled. All after school activities are also canceled for the rest of this week, including the girls basketball sectional scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2.
  • Brown County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and Feb. 4. This includes the Brown County Courthouse. The Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Brown County Highway Department will report as directed. Because the clerk’s office will be closed Feb. 4 candidates now have until Feb. 7 at noon to file to run for office.
  • Nashville Town Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and 4. The Nashville Town Council discussion meeting for Thursday night has been canceled. If Nashville Municipal Utilities customers have a water or sewer emergency please leave a message with the call service at 812-988-5526.
  • Brown County Community Foundation office closed Thursday, Feb. 3 (staff available by phone and email).
  • The Cordry-Sweetwater Conservancy District office will be closed to walk-ins on Thursday, Feb. 3. They can still be reached by phone at 317-933-2893.
  • Drive-thru pop-up food pantry at Parkview Church rescheduled from Wednesday, Feb. 2 to Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m., or as supplies last.
  • The Brown County Recycle Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and 4.
  • The North Salem United Methodist Church food pantry has been postponed until next Thursday, Feb. 10 from 1 to 2 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.
  • Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and 4.
  • Brown County YMCA will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3 and Feb. 4. The Whistle Pig 5K and 8K will still take place on Saturday, Feb. 5.
  • Brown County Art Gallery will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and 4. Check their Facebook page for a reopening update for Saturday, Feb. 5.
  • The Emmylou Harris concert scheduled for Feb. 2 and the Wynonna Judd with the Big Noise concert for Feb. 5 at the Brown County Music Center have both been postponed. The reschedule date for Judd is Saturday, May 7.
  • The free COVID-19 testing and vaccine clinic at the Brown County Fairgrounds will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and 4. The clinic may reopen from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5 depending on road conditions.
  • All Indiana University Health Southern Indiana Physician offices are closed Thursday, Feb. 3 including the Nashville office.
  • Brown County Humane Society will be closed to the public Friday, Feb. 4. Their phones are open to calls and adoption applications can still be processed.
  • St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry will be closed Saturday, Feb. 5.
